Today was one of those days you never want to forget. I woke up knowing exactly what I wanted to accomplish.. I've been dating this wonderful young lady named Chelsi. Her and I met at church.. I've known her since at least July of last year. She made some fabulous cookies and I had to show her how awesome I thought they were by eating tons of them. On April 7th we had our first kiss. It took me at least 3 hrs to do it, but I think it worked out well in the end. Then today June 3rd, I decided to take Chelsi to the singles branch in Raleigh so that she could meet some of my friends out there. Yeah Right! Thats just something you tell someone so that they can be suspicious about what your really up to. To my surprise I actually found an old friend there. A young man named Hyrum from my last area I served in had come home from his mission in Utah of all places and is now working out there. So that was exciting, but any who I suppose I was a little nervous. Chelsi kept asking me. Are you nervous about something? And I kept shrugging my shoulders and told her I'm bored. After testimony meeting I took chelsi to a park I was familure with. I wanted to take her out on a canoe and pattle over to the ducks so that we could feed them. Instead we walked down to the bridge and threw goldfish crackers from the bridge. After we ran out we started to take a walk around the lake. Mind you it was a little overcast and you could tell it was going to rain. I thought, well, we can make at least one lap around just to chat and kill some time and then it happened. Out of nowhere came this ginourmous hawk out of nowhere.. hahaha.. just kidding, but it did start to sprinkle and thunder, we kept on going. And then it down poured. so we stopped under a tree thinking it would help.. nope! so we decided we could run back to the car. Well we tried, but before we knew it we were soaked. Fortunately it was warm rain and it wasn't so bad. It seemed like one of those notebook scenes. It was great, but there will still people around and I wanted to be alone and so i pulled her aside to a spot that was on a small hill surrounded with bamboo trees and other shrubbery. It was really pretty and at this point there was a light sprinkle. I started to ask her why she thought we really came to Raleigh today and then I asked if she really wanted to know why I was so nervous all day. I think she saw it coming, but she denies it. So I pursued to get down on one knee and pulled out the ring from my pocket and said. Chelsi Lee Wilcox. Will you marry me? She gave me a big smile and said yes of course, and then gave me a big kiss. I thought it was weird she didn't grab the ring right away and put it on. I had to ask her if she was going to put it on and then I proceeded to put it on her finger. It fit perfect.
I'm going to get married. I cant wait! Chesli is a great girl. Everything I've ever wanted. Smart, funny, lovable, the works. You name it. She has it. We're going to have a lot of fun. I spend a lot of times ignoring the moments when the spirit is trying to talk to me and I end up making a lot of mistakes, but I'm glad I listened this time.
